Otter your ignorance blows me away... First you state that all athetes at Palma are recruited and that why they win??? And then you blast people who are trying to give their kids the best possible education as arrogant and entitled... I'm very happy that you are well educated and make alot of money.... however I am even happier that you are not sending your children to Palma...

Typical Palma supporter. Never really standing out on their own so they get their ego boost from a high school football program. But Im not surprised. Your sense of entitlement just shows that you really have no clue. AND FOR THE RECORD I WILL NEVER SEND MY CHILDREN TO PALMA. (And I could both afford it and have the educational background to do so) The "education" you are so proud of only shows how shallow-minded and ignorant it has made you. Something that I dont aspire in myself...

4bagger I have learned that you cannot argue with a disgruntled dad so I would not even try. The "Palma recruits" argument shows complete lack of knowledge of what the school stands for as well as a lack of education. Probably should have gone to Palma.

Otter are you saying that the Majority of athletes at Palma have been recruited???? whatever you're smoking...pass it over. Palma is a great place for a young man to get a quality education... But I guess if that young man happens to be an athlete he must have been recruited??? 2 funny

Your excuse is just as old. Yes the majority of "students" do but I know for a fact the majority of "athletes" havent. From King City to Hollister we all have known this to be true. But if that excuse works for you I guess you dont have an issue.

this argument is so old. the vast majority of students at palma have attended catholic schools their whole lives, with an even larger percentage attending since middle school. madonna, sacred heart salinas, sacred heart hollister, san carlos, junipero serra, catalina, st. marys, etc all feed palma. there are a few exceptions, but what claim do public schools have on students who have never been in their school system?

It probably wasn't so much that they missed the coach but I heard they had a bad recruiting year. You can't always get top athletes who are supposed to go to Salinas HS, Alvarez, North Salinas, Alisal, Monterey, Seaside, Hollister, Gilroy, etc. etc.

They really missed him last year. Probably the worst record from a Palma Frosh team since before I played in the 80's.

i credit mvc for scheduling this game, but this could be ugly. with coach costa back the palma freshman staff is better than 99% of the varsity staffs around here. the dude is in the high school coaches hall of fame for a reason. add a big mismatch of talent and mvc is in for a long day, but you never know i guess. on a good note the texas dudes will get a quick education in top coastal football.

thanks for all the support you give Monte Vista, however it is not a good idea to be so forthcoming with information regarding the team. Coach Reese says, and Coach Zo says, or anything else a Coach says doesn't need to be posted on this message board. It's good to encourage the team, but no need to report about the team.

I guess I may have spoken to soon about playing a really tough team in the first game.

I just hope the MVC freshman are not completely demoralized after playing a powerhouse like Palma in their very first game.

But like you said, it should be a good test, and an example of what the program should be shooting for in the future.

Palma's frosh number are around 50 at this point which is over half the incoming freshman class. Palma has a large 7th grade class therefore they took less freshmen. Today was the first practice but apparently they have a strong class with numerous athletes. This should be one of the better Palma frosh classes.

I heard that the Palma freshman may have less than 40 kids out for football this year. This sounds hard to believe. Is this true? I remember just a few years ago Palma had 70-80 freshman players on the sidelines. Too early to tell about this year's freshman team, but combine low numbers this year with last year's poor freshman showing and you have to start wondering.

On the other hand, I also heard the Palma 8th grade class is pretty loaded with good athletes; will they...
