1 thing...
1. I said Tyndall type. Not Tyndall-like. I have no idea what the kid looks like, I have just been told that he has Tyndall's size and is a good runner and defender. It is imposible for any kid to be "Tyndall-like" because there is only one John Tyndall.

Holcomb is close as we will see. He is a force in the backfield and an animal on defense. Every time they would try to give him rest last year he would go into rage and take it out on other team.

It should be a great game between Carmel and St. Francis this year. From what I have read, it looks llike Carmel has some very good players coming back. This year St. Francis has a number of returning starters coming back from a 7-4 CCS play-off team. Some of their big name players include: Zach Scurich 6-2-230 LB/RB, Chad Lucas 5-9-165 QB/DB, Tyler Sambrialo 6-6-270 OL/DL, Jacob Miller 6-1-210 LB/RB, Gerry Norton 6-0-240 OL/DL. These players were all SCCAL players as juniors last season and...

3 things...
1. Soledad always supposedly has some good player and they always do nothing.
2. I wouldn't call a kid Tyndall-like with just MTAL JV experience.
3. Hopkins will definitely be leading rusher in MTAL (If he stays healthy, obviously). Golden is going to do some good things offensively with the personnel he's got to work with. Carmel offense should be just as exciting, but they will miss that "it factor" that Ken possessed.

Carmel has Hopkins coming back, he should be the #1 back in the league. I think that based on what his brothers have done and what Grdad is saying about him Breaux would likely be #2. Somebody from PG will step up as usual. Stevenson has Tyler Allen returning, their leading rusher from a year ago. King city returns their QB who had more yards rushing than any of their returning runningbacks. From what I heard of their JV team they have a big Tyndall type running back in Holcomb. Gonzales...

Nothing wrong with hometown pride, GrDad. Step up for your boys! And Chris Breaux is certainly going to be a good one. It would not be surprising to see him among the league leaders (or even at the top) in each of the next two years.

However a look at the record book shows that MTAL rushing leaders have come from some "unlikely" places.

2008 - Tamayo - Greenfield
2007 - Keyser - Carmel
2006 - Tyndall - PG
2005 - Cornish - Carmel
2004 -...

As of today GR has 9 games. The open date is week 8, between Carmel and PG. NCSF to mention PG and KC without GR is forgiven. We have the last of the Breaux brothers moving into backfield. He will be the best of the 3 and if does not get injured should be top back for next 2 years in MTAL.

The football page on mbaypreps has it as a 9 game schedule. Also, the schedule on Carmel's website is at 9 games.
Carmel isn't playing Vacaville Christian on anything I've seen.

What are other MTAL teams doing?

Schedule looks pretty good. St Francis (Watsonville) who will be compatitive in the SCAL should be a tough game, as will Monterey (MBAL). Menlo losses alot from last year, but is well coached and typically pretty good for a small school. Not sure how good Vacaville Chrisitian will be although they return at least an all league LB. Will Carmel be in the new small school division in CCS playoffs? If so, this schedule with PG, and King City should be a good prep for the playoffs if they make...

apparently the person who told me monterey was playing los gatos was misinformed and they are playing san mateo instead. incredibly weak pre league schedule.

The WR at LaCosta Canyon will be one of the top athletes in the country. Evidently he ran a 4.36 (take with grain of salt) at Scout combine, but was camp MVP. This is going to be a togh match up for the Cowboys.

Wk 3 Cardinal Newman at home,. Any word on who they will play wk 1 or wk 2?

I hear Salinas plays LaCosta Canyon (San Diego section...any word on where? what week?). Who else do they play? Will they play Hug again?
