just take a look at the CCS Large School bracket. 4 B-league champions or co-champions lost to A-league members, two of whom did not win their leagues. Two of
the B-league champs were undefeated (Santa Teresa and Andrew Hill).

ST loses by 3 to an A League champ(Wilcox) by 3. Andrew hill loses by 10 to 4th place Salinas without the MVP of the League(Torn Hamstring). Weren't
Homestead and MonteVista "C" League teams, both did get beat soundly.
What I find interesting is all 8 teams in medium are "A" League teams(way stronger bracket than Large) Possibly small is tougher than large? Anyways good luck to all playoff teams! |

the el camino league, the league that monte vista and homestead play in, is a b league. the only c league in ccs is the pal-ocean. tough break for seaside
against lg, if they would have won the mbl could have had a shot at retaining its A league status, looks like they will more than likely drop back down to a b
league now.

if monterey wins this week, and seaside had won against los gatos they would have most certainly had a chance at retaining it, that would have been 3 playoff
victories for the league. 2005 was the year that really pushed the mbl into the a-league zone, and in that year the league combined 3 victories (2 from seaside
and 1 from monterey). if monterey wins they might still have a chance, albeit a long one. im not sure why you seem to think they have "zero chance"
at retaining their status though.

SJSU SAV wrote:Well, zero chance means exactly what you think it means. Post season is only a small part of the formula. Last year, the MBL had a LCI of 1.812, which means that this year, they needed a LCI of at least 1.788 to retain their A-league classification. Even if Seaside and Monterey both won CCS titles, the LCI would have been a woeful 1.62-1.65. If Monterey loses this week, the LCI comes in at 1.50, which means anotheer season like this and they could become a C-league in 2010-11. |

The Mbl is still a much stronger division than the sccal without question... if you were to put SV in the MBl they would be a third place team, mvc who struggled to win every week lost to 2nd place st. francis and that was the worst game mv played all year. if mv and sf played again mv would probably blow them out... but all you mv haters probably think im blowing smoke but go back to the beginning of the year when MVC beat SV in a week 0 game 14-7... |

I think the MBL went 3-6 against the SCCAL this season so I'm not sure "the MBL is a much stronger division than the sccal without question."
Monterey and Seaside and Scotts Valley would probably have very good games with each other. As far as MVC goes, they were OK this year but don't go with
the we would blow them out if we played again. Lots of teams can say that. You play and you win or you lose. I don't think that SV and MVC played this
year and it's not on the mbaypreps schedule. MVC lost to Alvarez in the opener and SV played in Texas. Maybe I'm missing it but when did MVC play SV?

MVC & SV did not play - It was a scrimmage before SV left for their Texas trip. SV ran their primary starters for two series before turning things over to
their underclassman to get some Varsity experience against competition other than their own players. While MVC did OK in the scrimmage, this was far from a
real game in every scenario. Every one is entitled to their own opions which is what makes HS football fans so great. But, in seeing MVC play this year as
well as SV and other teams in the MBL & SCCAL, SV would have not had any problems in beating MVC or competing in the MBL. SV has a very high powered
offense that is extremely balanced in both run and pass efficiency. Their defense is good, not great, but has had the ability all year to step up and make the
plays when it has had to. They would have been right there with Montery slugging it out for the MBL championship. Any of the top 5 SCCAL teams would have
been very competitive in the MBL, where I don't know it the same could be said for the top 5 MBL teams. Soquel was probably the real #2 team in the SCCAL,
but was hit very hard by injuries to key players throughout the year. St. Francis was very young, but talaneted and did a great job of capitalizing on other
teams mistakes. SLV & SC were just too inconsistent week to week, but were still good teams who played everyone tough. I don't see the MBL being
ahead of the SCCAL from top to bottom and this is reflected in their 3-6 mark against the SCCAL throughout the year. MVC would not have been competitive
against SV for a full 4 quarter game. Generally, teams struggle in a game because the other team is better, dominates them in several aspects of the game and
makes it appear that they aren't playing up to par. In reality, this is what you get. When you get dominated, your best is usually going to be sub-par.
If MVC struggled against St. Francis, they would have really struggled against SV. St. Francis was no match for SV in any facet of the game. SV's only
league struggle came against Aptos in a Monsoon that dropped close to 6" of rain in a 36 hour period in the SC/SV area. Bad weather is the only thing
that will generally allow a sub-par team to be able to compete against a more dominant team.
