I will personally see that your board gets shut down if you continue to allow people to make personal attacks on other players, coach's or programs. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! This website started off by allowing us to view results of other games and to view stats of opposing players. You have now created the most negative menu known to high school sports. You've allowed people to bash others who have dedicated their time to help teach young people. You're policy states that any negative comment towards others would not be tolerated and people would be banned. WELL? You are heading down the wrong path MBPreps. Do something about it. The coach's from the Monterey and Santa Cruz area have decide to start a petition to make sure your website is banned if this continues. To make sure I'm making my message clear, I'll will make sure that all coach's will no longer report scores and stats to MBpreps. ************************ I have put hundreds of volunteer hours into providing this site for athletes and coaches, only to have something like this sent to me. The intent of this site has always been to promote the positives of the athletes in the area. Obviously many now have a hostile attitude towards our efforts. Perhaps the time has come for our volunteer efforts to come to an and and shut the site down. MBayPreps

If it is your policy to ban negative comments, then do it, and everyone is happy. It has nothing to do with how many volunteer hours you put into the effort and what your intentions are. There is too much negativity in sports today -- don't let the message boards contribute to the negativity -- ban the negative comments rather than having a "I'm taking my ball and going home" attitude.

I particularly love MBAY Prep reports its a way I keep my stats together, game schedule and it assists me manage find new schools to set up games. It also honors the players who achieved at an academic level. Who else does all this? Lets not cut off our nose to spite our face.

Mean spirited comments are not good for the game and I for one will not participate in that kind of discussion. But who really is a Coach/AD accountable to? No one really. The school has a hard time finding these guys so they let them do just about whatever they want. If you were treated at work the way some coaches treat thier players, you would quit and find a job down the street. The kids on the other hand a held hostage to no school choice with administrators who are happy with who ever might help.

I, for one, enjoyed and was entertained for years by the message boards. Don't shut it down. 2nd - in response to oblonger post...if it makes you feel better to slam a paid (like 35 cents an hour) employee, then go ahead. Most coaches have thick enough skin and a maturity to handle it. There may be a few coaches around who treat their players badly, but in the Monterey county this is by in far the exception rather than the rule. There are some great men and women out there who teach young people more on a field, court or mat more than they are learning at homein their neighborhoods, or in the classroom.

Do you pick and choose who you let comment, because what i wrote was no were near mean or rude to any one. the facts that i stated are true about Alvarez High and the athletic Dept..i am not a coach or a teacher(nor did i play any college sports) but i am a very honest and hard working tax payer who has seen for the last 8 plus years that schools athletic programs slipped to a low level and go down hill hard in the last 4-5 years .... MY CHILDREN AND MY FRIENDS CHILDREN WHO SHOULD HAVE GONE THERE AND THE ONES THAT ARE GOING TO OTHER SUSD SCHOOLS NOW, ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THAT ATHLETIC DEPT... THAT'S WHY ALVAREZ HIGH IS NOT THE FIRST CHOICE OF MOST STUDENTS THAT LIVE NEAR ... AND FOR WHAT ITS WORTH I ATTEND MOST ATHLETIC CONTEST FROM ALL SPORTS ON A REGULAR BASIS TO SEE IF ANY IMPROVEMENT IS COMING AND IT IS NOT!!! SO EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS OR IS NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT WHEN WRITING ON THE SITE... I HAVE NO PROBLEM RE-WRITING BUT LET THE TRUTH BE SAID..

After extensive discussions with area coaches and league commisioners, we implemented policies that we felt were fair to everyone involved. This site was created for the purpose of recognizing our local student athletes, not to provide a forum for adults and parents to anonymously criticize and attack our local coaches and administrators. Anyone is free to criticize whoever they please as long as they simply leave their name. It is not too much to ask, and a fair compromise with our area coaches. As for board member identities, your names are completely anonymous (even from the administrators). What we can track is the IP address of the computer used to make the post. This message board is owned and operated by a 3rd party that provides free message board services for thousands of sites like MBayPreps. This site is a tremendous, positive resource for hundreds of fans, coaches and athletes from throughout the area. I can speak as one who mistakenly posted a negative message a few years ago; what I said wasn't appropriate for this site and I apologize. MBayPreps is entirely correct to expect, and enforce, a positivity policy. If a poster wants to criticize a school administration or coach, he should take it to the appropriate forum. No one reading this site is going to decide to change the direction of an athletics department because of an anonymous comment. Someone unhappy with a coach or AD would be much better served to join the PTA or booster group at the school, get on the school board, or gather like-minded persons to meet with a principal, and work to positively influence the athletic department.
