Footballfan5 you're smoking crack, Salinas will be a classic underachiever this season and go .500 in league. Great talent, but no strength.

Salinas won't be in the top 3 | #3 | ||
|
In addition to the lack of strength, there are too many teams in the TCAL that can stop the run. Jenks is a great back with a ton of speed, but 8 and 9 man
boxes will not do a running game any good. So unless Salinas can develop a legit PA game, and move the chains a little with the pass game, Salinas will not be
able to run the ball week in and week out. Look at the rushing yards from the top games last year North Hi- 166 yards, SB- 109 yards, Gilroy- 106 yards, Palma-
135 yards, Seaside- 77. They will need to develop some other aspect of their O before they start winning the big games.

gilroy 2nd? i see them finishing 3rd or maybe even 4th. the combination of their coach and jensen was the best thing that ever happened to their program, and
they both left at the same time, not to mention a new school is opening. its like a perfect storm of bad things happening to the gilroy football program. i see
them falling fast and hard.

its not about underestimating gilroy. when you lose your head coach and the most productive QB in school history it is reasonable to expect them to slip a
little. i guess people will look for anything thing to turn into billboard material.

Billboard Material? ok. Gilroy has the skill players and a very capable QB to run the explosive spread offense. They should win TCAL once again. And Marra can
run pretty good unlike Jensen. That will add a whole new dimension to the offense.

Palma
i dont think that north will even compete with the top 3 teams they lost a lot from last year and they lack size. i think gilroy is being underrated but i dont think they are good enough to take it all i wouldnt be surprised if there is another tri or co champs salinas should have a pretty solid defense and offense will be similar to last years. palma offense should be good not a lot of experience on the O line but with dalman back will help them tremendously they will control the fate of olivarria after last year he showed he is a lil soft when playing teams that are physical palma defense not many returning players but they get a lot of help from Junior class Foy and gardiner are very good and pulali should anchor the D line..should be a very good tcal season not as good as the past two seasons but should be interesting |

North High doesn't lack size, not sure where you got that idea. They graduated a lot of great players for sure, but high school players graduate every year and there are plenty of kids coming back who started or played last year (benefit of being 9-2). Palma and Gilroy graduated just as many, so is this a knock on the coaching at North High or the kids? Don't worry, they love the disrespect over there. Also, no reason to rank Salinas in league until they beat somebody good, which they haven't since 2004 before they got busted. Talent doesn't win games in high school and they got blown out (not beaten) by the top 3 teams in league last year. Palma game 14-38, Gilroy 2-45 (with a lot of whining), and North High 7-35. Some quick math tells me the Cowboys need to overcome a 23-118 (31.8 point average) loss margin in those games before they are crowned league champs. I don't care who they have coming back. 1. North Salinas2. Hollister 3. Alisal 4. Gilroy 5. Alvarez 6. Salinas 7. Palma And don't talk smack about the rankings I posted, they make as much sense as the rest of the ones I have seen.

the tcal is hard to predict this year. Palma and Gilroy are going to be good. North Hi graduated a lot but probably wont drop off much. salinas returns jelks
and looks like they could be improved. you can never really count out hollister. alisal is always competitive, and alvarez was improved last year even though
their record didnt show it. should be a very interesting and competitive year in the TCAL.

i would like for you to tell me who they have that made an impact on the team last year. they have brooks who is a pretty good rb but according to one of coach
zenks post he is in the qb race. he is also a solid corner. they also have benibedes who is a good corner and a rb who didnt get much carries last year. No
matter who their Qb is its going to be someone who has never attempt or as far as i know even taken a snap. Not sure but i think they lost all of their
starting o line. they have 19 players returning from last years team and i dont think anymore then 5 actually got to play a lot. I think Zenk is an amazing
coach im not taking a shot at him or the team. they will have a lot of unproven players i think in one more year they will have a solid team but i just dont
think they will have enough this year to compete for a title. As far as salinas last year they were young they return jelks. hubbard who is a load at tackle
possibly the best lineman in tcal he is a 3 year starter and crosby who was their leading receiver. i dont know the kids name who is playing qb but when was
the last time they did have a good qb. they will have good games with gilroy and palma.

Lattimore (6-5 270) and Nunez (6-4 235) are back on the O -Line (both 2nd team all-league). 2 other O-linemen are back that started 7 games between them at
center and tackle. Brooks and Benabides would have started at RB for any other team in the TCAL last year and both played plenty and I hear they tore it up at
camps this summer. Salinas' coaches are good guys, but the offseason over there is really an OFF season and you just can't win locally anymore that
way. Jelks is good for sure, no argument there. I keep hearing about Hubbard being a load, but when did he dominate last year? Best lineman in the TCAL? I
don't think so. Maybe a good prospect with potential but I hear not very strong or mobile on the football field, hope he proves to be better than last
year. Salinas was young at some positions but every year is going to be "their" year, so I will believe the hype about them when they prove it on
the field. They have been torn apart in 7's this summer so I guess they're a running team?, until the run gets shut down, then they're a ??? team
that is "young" and maybe next year. I don't have a problem with Salinas as a school or a team, but 6-4 in the reg. season isn't turning the
corner. And being outscored 218-283 with the "best" RB and OL in the TCAL doesn't make sense.

like i said 5 kids at the most i dont know who those other 2 olineman are because they graduated zamora and daniel taoatia and them lattimore and nunez started every game as far as i know. Benibedes and brooks would have started for alvarez and alisal and maybe hollister other then those 3 teams they wouldnt have seen playing time on anyother team. its funny how all north does is run the ball but yet they can be league contenders but whne all salinas does is run the ball they cant win. the two rbs at north this year wont compare to ramos and lattimore and nunez arent as good as daniel and zamora. palma returns varley who i personally would consider the best lineman in tcal and ive said in previous post that their oline is the big question but with dalman back it should help. they return olivarria and both of the taylors and they have fales who has not proven himself yet but has been tearing teams up in 7 on 7. the defense is going to be young but good. pulali at junior is going to be a load on the dline and max gibbons who played a lot last year will be their best dlineman. they have foy and andrus to play inside andrus played inside and outside last year started every game. foy is solid also. they will have gardiner at outside and he is very good. they return 2 dbs and have tanner sherman who is going to be one of the top corners in the league. palma returns more starters on offense then north does with their whole team combined.i just dont see them competeing for a league title but i hope they prove me wrong. i dont know much about gilroy so all im going to say is that they have marra who is a good qb and i believe they return about 5 or 6 players on defense |

Chandler Hubbard isn't mobile? He is a center on the basketball team for criminy sake and moves pretty well. He is probably one of the more mobile linemen
in the area, considering his size. Hopefully the 'Boys haven't bitten off more than they can chew with the difficult preseason schedule. They will
probably be 2-2 going into the TCAL. With 3 league losses possible, they could be 5-5 and left out of the playoffs. The losses last year to Palma, North
Salinas and Gilroy were very lopsided and didn't exactly inspire confidence. But this senior class has been very competitive over the years. The freshmen
and JV were decent last year, but the incoming freshman class may be one of the weakest in school history. If they don't get it done this year, it may be a
while before they are truly competitive again.

Not whining about running the ball, you just have to do it well! And someone said it pretty well earlier, too many teams in this area know how to stop the
run, especially when there is only one player to stop. I shouldn't get excited about all this anyways, we'll see what happens pretty soon without all
the useless, Monday morning QB trash talking. Good luck to all the kids playing this year, hope they all make it through the season and play to the best of
their ability. BTW, top 3 teams last year tied for league title, and 4 returners on offense isn't 5, but you keep up the good work.

well you said that 2 guys started 7 games between the both of them so i was being nice and giving them an extra guy. i think one thing everyone forgets is that north was horrible until the past two seasons and even the year before last they finished 3rd in league. so how do we know that north isnt going to go right back to the team they use to be. Zenk deserves a lot of credit for the turn around but lets be real the talent was there to help him and i dont theink that same talent is going to be there this year. north high turned it around so why cant salinas? |

I can already tell my reading your posts that you are in love with NHS. So I am assuming you either went there or you are still attending. Its funny how before
they started winning no one was on here saying anythin about them but since they have had two winning seasons they are the best team in the area and all their
players are so amazing and their coaching staff is so good. besides both of the Zenks they have a horrible staff especially after losing their one coach to
alvarez. I'm tired of hearing how good they are and all this bs. Same for Salinas they will never be good with the coaching staff they have they have the
potential but maybe they should do what Nhs did get a palma guy to coach your team. Palma will win league hands down. Olivarria is a beast and Garret Taylor is
going to be a stud at TE Bruce taylor I think is overrated he is fast but i dont think he is dedicated to football he needs to give up the golf after his last
performance.Austen Fales isnt as good as his brother and never will be but David was the best Pro style Qb the area has seen.He will put up good numbers.
Gilroy has a good QB in marra but thats it they lost all their receivers and their defense has never been good and they didnt have to be all they had to do was
keep a team under 20 points and their offense did the rest. palma will go undefeated in league and who cares about the rest

No doubt.... hands down NSHS is the best smashmouth team in tcal.... They do the best with what they are given and leave everything on the field. Unfortunately
that doesnt win titles.... good coaching, scouting, year round programs, disipline, talent and speed do... North High will surprise us with the games they win
and the games that they lose and should have won just like they do every year.... Penalties, poor decision, showboating will again rear its ugly head. Hard
working kids who will give it their all....but a TCAL title isnt in their immediate future. North High... the classic brides maid.

Pretty sure we won a title last year. Pretty sure my kids play the same way as every other school I've coached at. Pretty sure no one called the Palma or
Hollister teams I coached dirty or undisciplined(Amazing what socioeconomics will do for you). Keep in mind you are bashing kids. I could care whAt you think
about me or the way I coach, (i'm an adult and can stick up for myself) but I do care what people say about my kids. This season will be what the kids make
of it, just like every team every year. Also, being the only coach that has coached at Palma, Hollister, and NS I can tell you that every coach is a good coach
and it's apples and oranges trying to compare different coaches in different schools. Hopefully we all have fun this year, and hopefully the kids all have
coaches that care more about them then they do about football. Jeff does a good job at Palma. Steve does a good job at Salinas. Chris does a good job at
Hollister. Sunil does a good job at Alisal. Ralph is going to do a good job at EA. As far as talent at NS, we have always had talent and we have great kids. I
could care about wins and losses. 4th year in a row with all Fb players graduating. Second year in a row with 100% of our kids going to college. We do a little
more than coach Fb at NS!
