Any news on 7-on-7 passing league and tournament games? |

I saw Palma had a game last week at Palma, and next week in Salinas? Any news on how the teams looked? Any teams traveling to Stanford? What QB and receivers
are looking good?

Saw coach Hammond with his new team, Clovis. They looked good running his offense until they played Serra. Hammond just can't catch a break against Serra.
I think he'll do OK down there after those kids learn the system.
SLV played OK. They were pretty sound defensively. |

Serra was in the finals against St Mary's (Stocton) who will be the early leading candidate in DII for the state playoff. Serra has a budding D1A QB, and
two other D1A prospects at RB and WR that have lots of speed. It will most likely be Saint Francis or Serra that wins the WCAL next season. Altough Serra will
have lots of sophs playing this coming season, they will have lots of offensive fire power and are changing to a pro-set from the option they ran last season.
Saint Francis could dominate the next two years with the talent they have in their underclasses (Maybe VC will have a shot with the younger RB Marshall that
started on the team as a frosh last season). Palma is going to have a tough matchup with St Francis this season (SF has a very good QB and receivers as well
and will be much better than their record last year and I hear will have a very good defense).
I wish Bellermine kept its series with Clovis. It would be fun to watch Clovis (Hammond) against the CCS this coming season. Maybe he will schedule some TCAL teams in the future (i.e., Palma, North High, Salinas...) |

Yes, Serra was impressive. That WR ran past every defender he faced. At one point, he was litterally dragged down by a DB. Serra's QB is the real deal. I
thought him the St. Mary's QB and the St. Francis QB were the best in the tournament. I agree the WCAL appears to be a two-legged race this year between
Serra and SF.
I too was hoping to see Bellarmine vs. Clovis. I wouldn't be surprised to see Clovis vs. Hollister some time in the future. I don't see anyone challenging Palma this year in the TCAL. North Salinas or Hollister, maybe? From what I saw Saturday Salinas has some work to do. When my son was in school Salinas had a pretty solid program. I think they won the TCAL one of those years. |

The SJSU passing tournament was taken by Gilroy. There were some solid teams and Gilroy looked great. Nick Marra looks like a STUD. he makes great decisions.
My prediction for first team TCAL QB for sure. They are dominating every 7 on 7 they go to. everyone is underestimating them

Mara has a high upside from what I saw last season. What receivers look good? Also, what teams competed at the 7-on-7? This may be the last season Gilroy
competes at the top of the TCAL. Enrollment will have a big impact moving forward. Still think Palma, Salinas and North High will place higher. San Benito
seems down, but maybe they surprise.

Bryan Sanchez is small but fast. Tommy Desilva I think is his name, he is an athlete. And Julius Travis is blazing fast. Im not sure of all the teams but
Milpitas was there, Piedmont Hills was in the final with Gilroy. Those are the only teams i heard. The only question with gilroy is the lineman. They have
enough skill players to win TCAL. And yes, I agree with the enrollment issues with the new High School

how did piedmont hills QB look? i know he is really good. they are going to have a very good offense this year.
and gilroys enrollment is a big issue that they will have to deal with in the future, but they wont feel the full effect for 2-3 years. right now they just need to worry about replacing jensen. but from what im reading the new qb sounds like he is pretty good.

The Piedmont QB was pretty good. Relied on his receivers out jumping defenders a bit too much. And Gilroy won. They won it both years behind Marra because
Jensen wasnt there last year. I heard that he had a lot of success in the spread on JV and also in some playing time last year.

interesting. i know he is a very good athlete and piedmont hills has some pretty good skill position players. thats pretty impressive that gilroy beat them
while breaking in a qb. maybe the offense wont drop off as much as i thought.
and also, i am not trying to hate on gilroy or anything. all im saying is that i think they wont be quite as good as they were the last 2 seasons because they lost hammond and jensen. they certainly can compete for the TCAL, i just wouldnt call them the hands down favorites. it should be close between them palma, north hi like last year, with maybe salinas being in the mix as well. but i wish them all the best. |

Ya. I definetly think Palma will be, Palma. And i think Salinas will be good too. They have a good RB. The gilroy Offense definetly wont be as good as 2 years
ago but they will do enough to win games in my opinion.

Threw with them tonight. They look very sharp! They have a bunch of wayne crebet's running across the field, and catch the football. They will be right at
the top of the TCAL. Well coached and disciplined group.
