Any thoughts on the seeds and outcome predictions?

Well totalbaseball...if you are a Carmel alum then you would understand that it is standard to win a league title. With the exception of last year we had won
league about 12-14 times in a row? Someone correct me if my math is wrong. How is winning a league title more important than winning a section title? That
logic doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you are going to make the playoffs...you play to win, you shouldn't just be happy to make it.
Speaking as a Carmel baseball alum, we expected to win the MTAL and aimed to win CCS, regardless of division. I won't be gloating about winning a CCS
title when I'm 40, but I am proud to have played for a great program with much tradition. I guarantee the players that put all that hard work and
dedicaton into their team this year wont forget the CCS title they won a week after it happens.

The elite local programs (in all sports) expect to win league; the success of the season is almost always based upon how far in the playoffs they advance. In
this category I would put programs like Palma football, Notre Dame softball, Watsonville soccer, and yes Carmel baseball. For these type of programs winning
league is an afterthought. Success is measured on bringing home the blue CCS trophy; red at the worst.
If you are a baseball player at a school like Greenfield, winning league is a distant dream and a focal point of the program. It all depends on your program and perspective. I can guarantee you kids remember CCS titles A LOT MORE than winning a league title - they are too hard to come by. |
