Palma vs. Seaside |
Lead | ||
|
I think Seaside's speed might kill again vs the bigger badder Palma line. Coaching might put Palma over the top in this one tho what do yalls think? Haven't heard too much outta Seaside this offseason.

Palma will win | #3 | ||

Palma will dominate up front. Palma has the advantage in is the size, strength, and smarts. As far as coaching, Palma is superior to anyone in the peninsula
area.

Palma Will Win? | #4 | ||

I am excited for this game. Seaside has a very tough preseason schedule and this will be a great end to the preseason. I am positive that this will probably be
one of the best games of the season. I can't say which team will win just yet. But Palma will probably be the favorite in this game. I hope that this game
will live up to the hype and put on a show for the fans. Palma will probably be more bigger and stronger but seaside will definitely have the speed to make up
for size. Palma will definitely have to use their size to get an advantage and make sure to put seaside away early. But i don't believe that palma nor
seaside will dominate. This game will probably be a very close game because seaside's very tough schedule will help them get ready to compete with
palma.Hopefully this game will live up to the hype and be as good as the one a few years ago

seaside speed? | #5 | ||
|
who does seaside have that is even suppose to be fast they wernt that fast last year and i dnt know of anyone good on that team with out of the ordinary
speed....i wouldnt really say there is a lot of hype for this game last time these teams played seaside was suppose to upset palma i believe cause jermaine
carter couldnt be stopped and what not well that score was 30-15 which palma dominated that whole game except the 1st quarter and i dont see anyone returning
for seaside that can even compare to carter or avila or gordon i just dnt see seaside being nearly as good as previous years idk maybe im the only one that
thinks this

OK everyone is going by the kids that are returning for seaside and by the kids that they lost due to graduation. What about the kids that are coming up from
last years jv team.Seaside has a lot of talent coming up this year. But of course we won't know until the season starts.

I know some of you think the Palma coaching staff walks on water and I don't mean to burst your bubble BUT there are some pretty good staffs out there in
the big wide world. Not only will Palma struggle against Seaside (but they'll win that one) but North Salinas will beat them this year. They had a great
camp last week in San Jose at Oak Grove. They moved the ball well against Oak Grove and they stopped Oak Grove's potent offense in the red zone when they
had 1st and 10 on the 2 yard line. They play with a lot of heart. Both North Salinas and Gilroy should beat Palma this year. Welcome back to the pack.

I also think that seaside will have a whole team rather than just having that 1 go-to guy like in the past.

Who will Palma's key players be this season? I know of Fales.

Palma Key Players | #11 | ||

Palma key players on offense include:
David Fales, QB, verbally committed to Nevada. Should be one of the top QBs in Norcal. Bret Chernetsky, RB/WR/Safety- will see him all over on offense. May move to safety on defense. He's got decent speed and should be a very good player. He's had some interest from some college programs I have been told. RB: is open with Chernetsky probably playing this position. Also Olivarria, Baird, Ballestreri probably in the mix. Juniors that should contribute: Garrett Taylor, WR/TE, Bruce Taylor, Fly O-Line should be very sound and returns: Reeder, Marcroft, Pedimonte and a couple others with experience. Defense returns Baird, Chernetsky, Ballestreri, Marcroft, Swensen, Santos and a few others with experience. A few juniors should impact the defense. Palma should reload. They may not have lots of depth at skill positions, and juniors will have to contribute. Still, they should compete for league title with Gilroy. |

Saying Gilroy will beat palma is like saying seaside will even be close to palma. Palma has dominated Gilroy in 7 on 7's the whole summer. seaside might
have the speed to contend with all the "good" teams in the mtal and mbl but palma is just overall better coached, stronger, more physical and
smarter. This game has no hype because everyone that knows football knows that palma will just dominate seaside again and will shut up the mtal and mbl who
always think they can beat palma.

relax now we all know 7 on 7 does not determine that Palma will beat Gilroy. They both should be good and will compete for TCAL but you still have to favor
Gilroy till someone else takes it from them. Gilroy is ranked third in Nor Cal and 8th in state and Palma is I dont know how far down the list. Palma will be
good with Fales but may lack the speed on Friday night to keep up. Good luck to both squads.

What do you mean by Palma dominating Gilroy on 7-on-7? | #14 | ||

Any details?

Guess the word "dominating" depends on your perspective. I'll bet the kids at Gilroy might have a different point of view. And except for one
bad outing, it seemed like Carmel held their own with both Palma and Gilroy in 7 on 7. So does that mean that Carmel can play with either of them during the
regular season?
Interesting articles in this week's Sports Illustrated regarding the spread offense and defending the spread. Will Gilroy's success with the spread last year have more central coast coaches considering running it? And, how much will central coast coaches have learned in the past year about stopping it? I have a feeling that TCAL coaches have studied long and hard how to defend a spread attack and will be in a much better position this year to challenge Gilroy for the league lead. |

It's easy to see why so many people get such a bad attitude with the whole Palm, private school mentality when you make statements in your post that are so
outrageous. #1 Palma has a good coaching staff but there are soo many good staffs out there in the world outside of Palma. #2 EVERYBODY these days has a
weightlifting program not just Palma (Salinas HS won the lineman's competition this year at the Stanford Camp). #3 To say that they are smarter than
everyone else is an insult to every other player and coach out there. #4 To make statements like you did gives you NO credibility.

I was interested in the 7-on-7 just to see more details on Palma receivers this coming season and pass defense. I have seen alot on Gilroy and looks like they
will have some weapons although losing Contreras and Reyes are big when the season starts. They will need to replace these players to have a run threat. It
will be interesting to see how the other teams defend against Gilroy next season. I would put Gilroy as the favorite to win the TCAL next season, but it
won't be a big favorite. Some teams will make adjustments and Gilroy will need to replace some big loses in their RB talent. I think the games will be
closer this upcoming season than last year.
Also, winning 7-on-7 passing tournments is not the best indicator of how good a team will be, but it is good for ironing out and improving one facet of the game (passing). As most know, Palma defeated DLS in a passing tournament last season, but got dominated during their game. Lineplay and the ability to controlthe ball on offense will come in huge as to who will win league. That's a good sign for Salinas that their line is working hard. With Gregg at QB and the JV RB moving up, they may have a decent offense. Seems like their coach has motivated the team to work hard. It is great for the league if it improves overall from top to bottom. |

PalmasFuture? how about palma's past when they were content to win the mtal every year and brag about how many banners they got in the gym? kudos to carnazzo for showing confidence and moving them up to the big league...finally. everyone who has grown up around the bay knows that palma operates very efficiently and is well-coached, no need for constant reminders. |
